Norman Jaehrling is an accomplished community economic development practitioner, entrepreneur and manager with over 25 years of experience in facilitating, developing and financing community and economic development opportunities for Northern Ontario communities. Mr. Jaehrling has held senior positions with development organizations in communities ranging in size from 100 to 75,000 population, and is known for his passion, creativity and endless optimism in working with small places to achieve big dreams. Mr. Jaehrling is presently Chief Executive Officer of the Pic Mobert First Nation and its development corporations – he is also Managing Director of the Gitchi Animki Energy Corporation, Chairman of Magwyaawk Forestry Services Corp., a forestry contractor, and one of the First Nation’s directors on the board of White River Forest Products Ltd., a forestry manufacturing company that was co-founded and co-owned by the First Nation. Mr. Jaehrling has been the community project lead for the Gitchi Animki Hydroelectric Project from its conception, and working closely with (now) Chief Wayne Sabourin, has been actively engaged in all phases of the development through to the current advanced stage of production. And in his spare time, Mr. Jaehrling is an amateur writer and blogger, mountaineer and adventure traveller, having reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal. He also owns and operates the Possibilities Group, a small community development and management consulting firm based in Northern Ontario.
